阿部 乳坊以木質雕刻為創作核心，曾多次受國際機構邀請於台、日、韓、英國等地展出、參與國際藝術家論壇及大地藝術計畫。於2009在日本茨城與朋友共創「拝借景」藝術組織，並擔任其空間展覽負責人至今。阿部 乳坊最新藝術計畫《JOY DIVISON PROJECT》邀集來自不同領域的學者、專家和藝術家，彼此交流、分享，並共同製作系列作品。

本次展出阿部 乳坊多年創作中數件極具代表性的大型作品，展覽聚焦於藝術家對人類樣貌的刻畫；其作品造型以異長的手或軀幹、彷彿融合飛機雙翼為特徵，表現人們內心深處追求希望和慾望的形象。藉由雕刻，藝術家企圖將人類面對內心無窮欲望時，那無法以肉眼見得之樣貌，生動地展現在觀眾眼前。

阿部 乳坊的作品是一媒介 – 連結對過去、現在和未來的想像。同時串聯起人類與大自然，暗示人類為了更富足的生活與自然隔開的距離。

展出作品橫跨2009年至今各見代表藝術家不同時期的標誌。期待觀眾透過觀察其雕刻中的種種變化，探索過去、當下與未來，以及人類和自然面對面的互動方式。

“Transmitted Body” Abe Nyubo solo exbition

Abe Nyubo is an international artist mainly focusing on wood sculptures. His works have been exhibited internationally, including in Japan, Taiwan, Korea and United Kingdom. He has engaged in international art forums and art festivals creating site-specific installations in fields. Abe Nyubo and his friends also found an artist-run-space called ‘拝借景 (Haishakkei)’ in Niigata, Japan. He has been the exhibition director since its beginning in 2009. In his latest art project ‘JOY DIVISON PROJECT’, Abe Nyubo invites expertise and artists from different disciplinary to work together and engage in a series of works.

This exhibition features Abe Nyubo’s major enormous figurative works created throughout his art life so far. Characterized by extended arms or bodies blended with aircraft-like poses , his works depict the pursuit of desires and hope in human beings’ mentality. Through sculpture, the artist attempts to disclose human’s unseen expression evoked by pursuing their wants.

Abe Nyubo’s creation is like a ‘medium’ which connects the imagination of the past, present, and future, and links the distance growing between humans and nature – people distanced themselves from nature to get prosperous life in return.

The exhibited works span from ’09 to present, and each works could be seen as different turning points in the process of his art venture. Perceiving changes in his works, the audience is expected to explore the past, now, and future, as well as the way we face nature.

【繋ぐ身体】阿部 乳坊 個展

阿部は木材を素材とした彫刻を中心に多数の作品を制作をしている国際的な彫刻家です。 茨城県取手市、アーティストランスペース「拝借景」を共同で立ち上げ、初期から現在まで企画運営に携わっています。台湾、韓国など国際展にも参加するほか、アートプロジェクトや滞在制作、幅広い分野の研究者や芸術家との共同制作《JOY DIVISON PROJECT》も行っています。

そんな多岐にわたる活動の中から今回は彼の主軸である木彫の作品、主に人物の彫刻に焦点を当てます。彼の作品には腕を長く伸ばした作品や飛行機と融合したような作品があります。彼はそれらを人間の内面の姿であり、希望そして欲望の形であると言います。目には映らない、果てしない人間の欲求を人体彫刻を通して表現します。それらは過去と未来、現実と空想を繋ぐ媒体であり、豊かな暮らしと引き換えに遠く距離を置いた人間と自然を繋ぐ役割を果たします。

本展示では2009年から現在までの分岐点となった作品を数点紹介し、彼の人体彫刻作品の変化を通して、過去・現在・未来そして人間と自然との向き合い方を探っていきます。
