許匡匡個展《曠時的人 The Ore Collector》將於10月19日於雲清藝術舉行。
礦石,經過大自然漫長的錘鍊與無數積累而形成的石頭,被認為擁有神秘力量,晶瑩剔透好似蘊含著能夠照映內心的光芒。對此抱持信念的人們揀選專屬自己的礦石,賦予特別的意義並仔細收藏,日復一日地陪伴著彼此的成長與蛻變。
展覽《曠時的人 The Ore Collector》,許匡匡取「礦石」與「曠時」的諧音,象徵生命中那些或許不足為道,卻因執著不輟,在某種意義上更顯彌足珍貴的事物。藝術家認為儘管當中耗費的時間與心神可能看似如薛西佛斯般無盡徒勞,但其所擔負的重量卻真實地存在於每一個當下,這是只屬於當事人的體悟,如此純粹。
展覽主視覺「靈感敲敲」,畫面呈現藝術家標誌性的藍色短髮女孩,她頭頂著鮮紅的蘋果,無論是美麗的蘋果或圓潤的石頭,這些元素都代表了人們對美好的嚮往。在許匡匡的創作裡,各種符號經常交織,藝術家以獨特的語彙引領我們微觀這世間令人著迷的萬象。
備受好評的陶作系列此次亦有新作登場。相較於繪畫,陶作的塑形與燒製過程更具象化展現出一種週而復始的堅持,通過反覆的練習與面對失敗,無形的情感被轉化為有形的存在,更豐厚了作品的深度。

Artist Statement
曠時的人,意指那些將時間用於反覆而徒勞之事的人。創作者沈浸於重複而持續性的工作中,有如推著巨石的薛西佛斯。
從現代人對於曠石的鍾愛,延伸至虛擲時光於特定事物的人。週而復始的繪畫與陶土捏塑,在他者眼中看起來似乎沒有盡頭。
然而美好的事物的追尋,總有經歷時間打磨之必須。
礦石源於自然的琢磨與時間刻劃壓縮形成,被人們挑選、感知並賦予了關於能量與玄學的意義。時間是自由的,而只有人們被圈在24小時制的刻度裡。所以我們也只能把自由的石、自由的時收藏起來,彷彿就能擁有時間。
人們崇拜美麗的石、歷經時光琢磨而風化的石,也許只是因為在日復一日的練習與時間的消磨之後,某天我們也終將成為一顆寧靜的石頭。

Zito Hsu’s solo exhibition, The Ore Collector, will open on October 19 at Elsa Gallery.
Minerals, formed through nature’s long processes of pressure and accumulation, are believed to possess mysterious powers. Their crystalline structure seems to hold a light that reflects the inner self. Those who hold this belief carefully select their own stones, imbuing them with personal meaning, and cherish them, growing and transforming together over time.
In The Ore Collector, Zito Hsu plays on the homophones of “ore” (kuàng shí) and “time-consuming” (kuàng shí), symbolizing the seemingly insignificant yet deeply valuable aspects of life that become precious through persistence. The artist believes that, although the time and effort invested may feel like an endless and futile task, akin to Sisyphus’ labor, the weight of the experience is undeniably real in each moment. It represents a pure, deeply personal understanding.
The exhibition’s main visual, Knock on the Head, features Zito’s signature blue-haired girl with a bright red apple atop her head. Whether it’s the apple or a smooth stone, these elements represent people’s longing for beauty. In Zito Hsu’s work, symbols are often intertwined, and through his unique artistic language, she invites us to closely examine the captivating wonders of the world.
The exhibition will also feature new works from his well-received ceramic series. Compared to painting, the shaping and firing of ceramics provide a more tangible representation of persistence through a cyclical process. Through repeated practice and confronting failure, intangible emotions are transformed into tangible forms, deepening the richness of the work.

Artist Statement
The term “timeless people” refers to those who devote their time to repetitive and seemingly futile tasks. Creators immerse themselves in continuous, repetitive work, much like Sisyphus pushing his boulder uphill.
From the modern fascination with minerals (kuàng shí), this concept extends to those who seemingly waste time on specific pursuits. The endless cycles of painting and shaping clay may appear to outsiders as having no end. However, the pursuit of beauty often requires the patient work of time.
Minerals are formed through nature’s gradual process of shaping and compressing over time. People select, perceive, and assign them meanings related to energy and mysticism. Time, in its essence, is free, but humans are confined to the 24-hour cycle. So, we collect these free stones and free moments, as if by possessing them, we could hold onto time itself.
People revere beautiful stones, those worn down and shaped by time, perhaps because after endless repetition and the slow erosion of time, we too may one day become like those serene stones.
